Tapelark for Linux is on its way. It records what you already play on your Linux computer, from one app, several apps or the whole system, and files it into your library as tracks, the same way Tapelark does on the Mac. It is not available yet: this page says what it will do and how the licence works, and it will have the download when it is out.

What it does

  • Record any app. Choose a music player, a browser or any other app that plays sound. Tapelark records that app only, straight from PipeWire: no microphone, no cable, no change to your sound settings.
  • Tracks with names. Players that announce what they play (most Linux music players and the big browsers do) give each track its title, artist and album. Sound from other apps is split at the silences.
  • Internet radio and podcasts. Search thousands of stations, record a stream song by song and schedule recordings; follow podcasts and keep their episodes.
  • Your library. Browse by artist and album, edit tags, find duplicates and export to AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC, WAV or MP3.

What is different on Linux

  • No Pro features yet. Window video recording, Isolate Voice and Smooth Motion are on the Mac only.
  • Mute while recording is not available on Linux yet.
  • MP3 is one of the export formats on Linux.

Licences

The trial will give you every feature for 14 days, as on the Mac; each recording stops after 10 minutes until you buy.

  • Tapelark for Linux: recordings of any length on Linux. Like Tapelark for Mac, it covers one system: a Linux licence does not unlock the Mac version, and a Mac licence does not unlock Linux.
  • Tapelark Pro covers both systems: one Pro key unlocks Tapelark Pro on your Mac and Tapelark on Linux. Linux has no Pro features of its own yet, so on Linux Pro works as the full version.

You already have Tapelark Pro? Your key will work on Linux too. Prices and paying: Pricing.
