Never miss a weekly show. Pick the station, set the time, and choose once or the weekdays it repeats on. Tapelark records the show from the station's own stream and, whenever the station sends song titles, saves one tagged file per song.

Set it up in four steps

  1. Open Radio (⌘2) and find the station by name, genre or country. Click the calendar button next to it (Schedule a Recording of …), or choose Recording > New Schedule… (⌥⌘N) to pick one of your Favourites.
  2. Set the Start time, the Date and the Duration, from 5 minutes to 12 hours.
  3. Under Repeat on, choose the weekdays the show airs; the date then becomes the first day. With no day chosen, the recording runs once.
  4. Click Save, and keep Tapelark open. Its window can be closed: Tapelark stays in the menu bar, and its menu bar item turns into a red record symbol while it records.

Good to know

  • The station doesn't have to be playing. Tapelark records the stream itself.
  • The shows end up in your Library, with the station as the album, browsable by artist, album or genre.
  • Stations marked Play only can't be recorded yet. When you save a schedule for one, Tapelark looks for another stream of the same station that it can record and offers it (Schedule That Stream).

Ideal for weekly DJ mixes, specialist music shows, live sessions and shows that air while you're asleep, as long as the Mac is awake.

Questions

Does my Mac have to be awake?

Yes, at the start time. During a recording Tapelark keeps the Mac from going to sleep on its own, but it can't wake a sleeping Mac. If the Mac sleeps through a start, the recording begins when it wakes, for the time that's left, and Tapelark tells you; a show it slept through entirely is reported as missed.

Does Tapelark have to be open?

Yes. Scheduled recordings run while Tapelark is open, also with its window closed.

How long can a scheduled recording be?

From 5 minutes to 12 hours. Until you buy Tapelark, a recording stops after 10 minutes, scheduled ones too: the schedule editor tells you when a schedule is longer, and everything recorded is saved.

What does it cost?

Try every feature free for 14 days. One licence is for one person on all their Macs: see the prices.

Which Mac do I need?
